   Not all health insurance companies use the same underwriting standards. As an agent, my experience has been that some companies are easier to insure with than others. So it might be just a matter of shopping around a little more. Of course, it does depend on your health history – some health issues will be hard to underwrite with any company.

   If you’re low income, you can try for welfare insurance – medicaid. Or you can find it through an employer. Or, your state might have a high risk pool, but it usually costs WAY more than private insurance.

   The BEST way to get it, is through the group policy of your employer.
